NHAI to repair the unsafe over bridge on the way to Puri immediately

Bhubaneswar: June 10: After getting written document from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) with the mention regarding the unsafe condition of Railway over bridge at Samajajpur, a major project on Puri-Bhubaneswar National Highway, district administration of Puri geared up solve the issue well before the Rath Yatra this year. Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal with SP of Puri and NHAI official inspected the site today morning and further Collector asked NHAI to construct a temporary road for the commuters immediately till the Flyover is rebuilt. Sources said, the alternative road will be opened by tomorrow. Also, the district administration governed the National Highway Authority to get it rectified immediately. Due to Rath Yatra heading so close, if communication is stopped, it would lead to a major drawback in the mobility plan. Therefore, it has been requested to get it implemented within 15 days. For the time being a temporary repair may be done to the bridge for two and light four wheelers along with a bye-pass road being constructed under the bridge for diversion.

Whereas, Nabakalebar Infrastructure Development Committee Chairman, Mr. Maheswar Mohanty expressed his hesitation over the completion of the work within the stipulated time, stating it to be an unrealistic aim to reach upon. He added that it has been requested to construct a bye-pass road under the bridge on which heavy vehicles would run. In the meantime, the work departments have also assured timely completion of their work. Work Secretary, Nalini Pradhan said that the NHAI is taking care of re-construction of the bridge. The reason for it getting broken down is due to the use of soil instead of concrete. Hence, it shall be replaced by concrete soon.
