New Delhi: April 26: Rajya Sabha disrupted today again over JNU issue i.e. JNU’s decision to fine the students’ union president Kanhaiya Kumar and rustication of three others.
Commenting on the decision of JNU, CPI-M member Tapan Kumar Sen described the action as ‘most arrogant, anti-democratic act patronised by government. CPI leader D Raja said, ‘ This is a vindictive and revengeful action’. Deputy Chairman, P J Kurien said that the universities are autonomous. CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury immediately countered the statement saying the university has been established by an act of parliament. Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad supported the Left leaders and condemned the action taken by JNU.
Notably,Kanhaiya Kumar was fined Rs.10000 whereas Anirban Bhattacharya, Umer Khalid and Mujeeb Gatto were rusticated by JNU authority.
