Bhubaneswar, Sept 17: The Utkal University authorities have decided to install CCTV cameras in the campus to ensure safety for the students at the Varsity.

As per the information from Prof. Ranjan Kumar Bal, chairman of PG council, initially four cameras will be installed at the main gate before declaration of the election date and later, emphasis will be laid to install cameras in front of each PD Department.

This decision was taken after noticing the rising cases of group clash between two student groups and as the non student groups create nuisance regularly after entering the university and hostel premises.

The installation of cameras will help to monitor the entry of students and non students as well.

CCTV cameras will be installed at gate no 2 and 3 within a month. Also, the cameras will be installed at boy’s hostel, ladies hostel, library and administrative buildings. For operations of the CCTV cameras, a unit will be formed.
