The ailing octogenarian eminent stage artiste, theatre director, artist, painter, and writer Asim Basu breathed his last today at 5.30pm at Capital Hospital here in Bhubaneswar. He was under treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Capital Hospital.
The veteran stage artiste was suffering from lungs infection, according to hospital sources.
The state government’s Culture department had on January 25 sanctioned an amount of Rs 1 lakh for his treatment .
It is worth mentioning that Asim Basu has been chosen as the recipient of Coveted Budha Samman at Dhauli Kalinga Mahotsav.
