Vigilance files cases against 10 in multiple allotment scam

Bhubaneswar, Jan 17: Cases have been registered against as many as 10 persons, including five government officials, by the Vigilance department in connection with the multiple allotment of plots, land and houses in the State capital.

Two of those against whom the cases have been registered are Odisha Administrative Services officers.

According to Vigilance sources, two cases each have been filed against former allotment officer of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Subhashree Nanda and section officer Bibhuti Bhusan Ray.

The cases were registered against the duo over the allotment of plot for construction of house number-151 and MIG House-117 at Phase -II of Ananta Vihar housing scheme in Pokhariput area here.

Another case was registered against former allotment officer of BDA and retired OAS officer Surendranath Nanda over the allotment of plot number K-8 in Kalinga Nagar area here under Plotted Development Scheme.

The cases have been registered under Section 13(2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, and Sections 200/ 202/ 468/471 /420 /120-B of the Indian Penal Code for illegal allotment basing on false information furnished by allottees. Earlier, five cases were registered against 23 persons, including 18 officials of the BDA and Cuttack Development Authority (CDA).
