Bhubaneswar, Nov 23: On the basis of violating norms of fire safety and not having required firefighting equipment, a Public Interest Litigation has been filed against Kalinga Institute of Medical Science (KIMS) by a lawyer Shiv Shankar Mohanty for cancellation of license.
A notice regarding the PIL has been issued to the Health Secretary, Chief Secretary, Director General Fire Service, Collector of Khordha and Deirector Medial Education and Training (DMET) after its hearing.
The petitioner also demanded to strictly implement provision of Odisha Fire Service Act 1993 and stated that besides various norms till now some hospitals are not following the norms.
Stating this, the petitioner also said that, in 2012, KIMS directed to follow the norms but till now no such steps has been taken by KIMS. Moreover, after the fire mishap at KIMS which had happened in 2014, KIMS is still performing its operation without a seal.
However, December 15 has been fixed for next hearing in this matter.
