Voting For 4th Phase Of Panchayat Election Begins In Odisha

Voting for the fourth phase of the three-tier panchayat elections in Odisha began on Tuesday morning.

More than 51 lakh voters are expected to exercise their adult franchise and decide the fate of candidates in 163 ZP zones across 27 districts.

At this stage, adequate security has been put in place to prevent incidents such as violence and booth capturing. More than 51 lakh voters will assert their rights.

Odisha police tightened security for the fourth phase on Tuesday after a series of violent incidents in the first three phases of the panchayat elections, officials said on Monday.
A total of 257 platoon forces and 1473 mobile patrol parties have been deployed along with district police officers for the fourth phase.

Notably, 78.6 % of the people have voted in the third phase of the Odisha panchayat election at 18,495 booths in 1,382 Panchayats of 63 Blocks in 29 districts across the state.
