Bhubaneswar, May 19: On Thursday, IT minister Chandra Sarathi Behera assured of required measures are being initiated to tackle the WannaCry Ransomware attack on computers in Odisha. Computers at Utkal Gramya Bank in Titlagarh were hacked on Thursday and this was the second Ransomware attack in Odisha. Behera further stated that several advisories are being issued for all internet users and security features enhanced with assistance from State Data Centre at the Secretariat. He also slammed at the opposition parties, who had lashed out at the IT adviser Sam Pitroda for his ‘absence’ in such crisis, stating that Pitora has been appointed as adviser for development of the IT sector and so his presence for the present scenario is not compulsory. On the the hand, the special team of the Cyber Police of Odisha Crime Branch are investigating the virus attack on computers of Community Health Centre, Purushottampur on May 15. On Thursday, a case under sections 65/66 Information Technology Act and 385 IPC has also been registered. Special Director General (DG) Police (Crime Branch) B.K. Sharma informed in his tweet.
