Wanted criminal attacked on crossfire by cops in Berhampur, Odisha

Berhampur, Feb 16: Last night at Marda square under Polsara police station in Ganjam a notorious criminal named Jogi Goud was injured in a police encounter. He sustained bullet injuries on his left leg. Post this he has been admitted at the Orthopaedic Surgery department at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here. The cops have seized a bike, a mauser and three live bullets from the possession of Jogi. Jogi had been wanted in Ganjam, Khurda and also by the Commissionerate Police. More than 15 cases are pending against him at various police stations including dacoity, murder attempt and firing.

Jogi is a resident of Arjunapalli village in Kabisuryanagar block here. On Wednesday night, acting on a tip off from Kabisuryanagar police, Polsara police was waiting for Jogi at Marda Square. On sight of police Jogi tried to escape from the place by open firing on them as a result police had to resort to return firing in which Jogi was shot on his left leg.
