Puri, May 6: Today, Water Resources department officials reviewed the condition of the embankments of the Daya river in Astarang here for preparations concerned with the upcoming monsoons. The review team was headed by the local MLA here and they visited Mahadebabasta, Patharapaka, Bauriakan, Sathiebati and Aasana. These embankments are said to weaken due to sand erosion. The four under-construction spurs along with some old spurs and stone packing work on the river have bee also reviewed. The local MLA stated that a proposal to strengthen the 23-kilometre-long river embankment from Sikharghata to Aasan and widening of the road has been given.
