Who will be Virat Kohli’s replacement as Captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)? The most discussed question in Cricketing Circle since Virat’s announcement to step down as the captain of RCB after the conclusion of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Many have been discussing the name of AB de Villiers to lead the side after Kohli. But, former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn has named KL Rahul as a perfect long-term captaincy replacement for Kohli. KL Rahul is now leading Punjab Kings.
Rahul was part of the RCB squad but was let go of by the franchise ahead of the 2018 season before being picked by Punjab Kings in the auction. Steyn feels RCB should try to get Rahul back to the team as Captain.
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Steyn said, “I don’t think AB de Villiers is the right way to go. I think he is a phenomenal player. But he is at the end of his career. I think he is a great leader’.
Virat Kohli became the regular captain at Royal Challengers in 2013; he has been a part of the franchise as a player since the inception of the IPL in 2008.
