Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: The Commissionerate Police on Sunday arrested the wife of Pravat Nayak and his in- laws along with others on charges of murder. The persons arrested along with Pravat’s wife Pirati Nayak are mother-in-law Lakshmi, brother-in-law Bijay, Sumati and Sara Nayak.

Pravat’s wife Pirati Nayak, mother-in-law and wife’s brother-in-law were absconding after the Government Railways Police (GRP) seized the  body of youth with his hands tied and legs severed on the railway tracks near Palaspalli area under Airfield Police Station here on January 23.

Police had identified the deceased as Pravat Nayak, a contractual worker in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) staying with his in-laws at Kargil Slum under Air Field Police Station here.

Suspecting it to be a pre-planned murder, GRP had started investigation into the matter as family members of Pravat had alleged that he has been murdered by his in-laws and dumped on the tracks.

Locals on Saturday morning found his body with his hands and legs tied with a thick rope on the tracks near Palaspalli. On being informed police had rushed to the spot and started investigations.

The accused will be produced before court on Monday after further interrogations, said Airfield IIC Bharat Sahoo.
