Angul, May 26: In a shocking incident, early today, an elderly man was crushed to death by a pachyderm in here.
Identified as Sundur Dehuri of Basantpur village in Angul, the deceased was on his way to the nearby field to attend the call of nature, when the wild elephant attacked him, crushing him to death on the spot.
After being informed, the forest officials reached the spot to take reports, but were detained by the irate villagers, said sources.
