Wishes showered by Hockey India on Deep Grace on 100th intl cap

Bhubaneswar, June 4: On Friday, women’s team defending leader ‘Deep Grace Ekka’ won her 100th international cap in the team’s final group stage match against Australia in the Four Nations Tournament.

Hockey India showered their wishes on Deep Grace for her remarkable victory.

Secretary General of Hockey India, Mushtaque Ahmad, congratulated the youngster for her tremendous hard work contributing for the betterment of the team.

As a result of her win, the team finally qualifies for the Rio Olympics after a long interval of 36 years.

The secretary general wising her luck, remarked on her tremendous efforts being as a responsible team leader and making the women team qualifies in the Olympics. It is her passion and determination that at such a young age she has accomplished 100 caps.

Ekka belongs to Sundargarh, a district in Odisha who made her stand on the 22nd birthday of hers thus making a mark as a beginner in the Four Nations Tournament in Argentina in the year 2011.

She has also been a part of the team winning the International Hockey Federation World League Round 2 being conducted in New Delhi in the preceding year along with being a member of the Bronze medal winning team at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
