Bhawanipatna, Sep 16: Yesterday a woman cadre Maoist was killed in a police encounter in a hideout in the Niyamagiri forests in Kalahandi district. The encounter happened during when gun fire broke out between the Maoists and the police in an operation led by the police somewhere in the Niyamgiri hills within the range of Bijepur police limits under the Lanjigarh police station. Reports stated that the deceased Maoist was a member of the Bansadhara-Ghumsar-Nagabali division of the outlawed CPI (Maoist).
It’s stated that while the body of the woman Maoist was found after the strike, the other members of the group fled. Meanwhile, Police have destroyed two Maoists camps and have recovered one INSAS rifle, one SLR rifle and two rifles during the operation. The operation against the rebels was led by Kalahandi SP Brijesh Kumar Rai. More information is yet to be known.
