Woman caretaker death case: SCPD, Minati Behera begins investigation; holds Seva Kendra owner responsible

Bolangir, Mar 23: Today in connection to the mysterious death of the differently-abled (Divyang) woman caretaker two days ago here, the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (SCPD) Minati Behera has begun investigation. She paid a visit to the BC Jena Memorial Seva Kendra, a home for People with Disabilities to enquire about the death of Nalini Pradhan, the woman caretaker. She also conducted discussions with the head of the Seva Kendra and other officials. Upon investigation, Behera held the seva kendra owner Bibhuti Jena responsible for the death as he used to forcefully bring the girl from her house and exploit her sexually. She further stated that investigation is still underway and all facts will be written in the final report. A case has been registered numbered as 95/16 reports on the matter has been sought from the District Collector, SP. After the submission of the report by the DC and SP, legal action will be undertaken and commission will act accordingly.

Notably, Nalini, the woman caretaker died on Tuesday under mysterious condition inside the premises of the seva kendra. In protest, the locals keeping her dead body before the district Collectorate, demanded actions against the seva kendra owner. The deceased’s family members allege that the owner of seva kendra where Nalini used to work is behind her death. They said that the owner had lured her with the promise of good pay and exploited her sexually.
