Bhubaneswar: A woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her rented home at Rampur slum, within the Kharavela Nagar police limits in Bhubaneswar.
The deceased, identified as Swarnalata Mahanandia, was the wife of Bapi Nayak. The couple had recently moved to Bhubaneswar and were living together in the slum area.
According to initial reports, the couple had a dispute a few days ago. Swarnalata was found dead on Wednesday morning, with her husband claiming she died by suicide, stating she was found hanging. However, police have detained Nayak for questioning, suspecting foul play.
Meanwhile, Swarnalata’s family members have alleged that her husband strangled her, disputing his claim of suicide. The police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
