Wrong injection by ANM’s son kills boy in Ganjam, Odisha

Ganjam, Dec 19: A child was killed after the son of an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) allegedly administered him with a wrong injection in Bikrampur village in Ganjam district yesterday.

Deceased identified as Aditya Barad, a student of class II was taken to ANM Manorama Bindhani’s house for treating a wound in the leg. Since Manorama was not present at the house in the moment, her son administered the injection to the patient, following to a deteriorating condition of the child.

Soon he was admitted to a private hospital in Balugaon. Seeing to a none improvement in his health conditions, he was taken to the Khalikote CHC by his family members. On reaching the doctors declared him brought dead.

The child’s body was sent to the MKCG medical college and hospital for post mortem while the District Collector Prem Choudhury has ordered a probe into the happening. He has also directed the CDMO to immediately suspend the ANM.
