1 succumbs to death while 24 students get injured on a wall collapse in Puri, Odisha

Puri, Sept 9: Yesterday afternoon, Puri witnessed a dreadful incident when a wall adjacent to the Basukera Saraswati Sisu Bidya Mandir School suddenly collapsed and killed a standard 8th student named Meenakshi Satpathy whereas 24 other students succumbed to critical injuries. It’s stated that mishap occurred when the students were just to take their cycles out adjacent to the wall which was in dilapidated condition. Suddenly, the wall collapsed. The injured were immediately taken to the Satyabadi hospital and later shifted to the Capital hospital in Bhubaneswar. On receiving information, School and Mass Education minister, Debi Prasad Mishra visited the Capital Hospital to take note of the injured pupils. In the meantime, Puri Collector, ordered the DEO for an enquiry and declared that the district administration would bore all expenses pertaining to the treatment.
