10 cabinet proposals approved by Odisha govt

Bhubaneswar: As many as 10 important proposals have got the cabinet nod on Wednesday, said reliable reports. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.

State Cabinet gave a nod to 10 proposals, some of them are as follows:

  • Godavarish Adarsh ​​Primary School Scheme will be implemented. The government will set up one smart school each in the 6794 gram panchayats. This scheme will be applicable for class 1 to class 8 and Rs. 4 to Rs. 5 crore will be spent per school. The implementation will be completed within a span of four years and initially will be started in 114 primary schools. In total Rs 12,000 crore will be spent and the work will be completed by 2028.
  • The state government will provide more special financial incentives to RIR Power Commission Limited for the manufacturing of semiconductors. Earlier 30 percent financial assistance was provided, now an additional 20 percent will be provided. For this, the state government will spend Rs 110 crore.
  • The State Cabinet has decided to provide financial support for cold storages across the state with 60 percent subsidy in the capital investment and additional assistance of  Rs 6.5 crore in four slabs. The government will also provide subsidy on electricity.
  • A new scheme for accelerated development of rural areas has been approved. The scheme shall be called “Vikasit Gaon, Vikasit Odisha”. An expenditure of Rs. 1000 crore has been sanctioned for the same in the current financial year and for the next five years. Things will be decided by the Gram Sabha and will be approved by the District Collector. A sum of Rs. 5,000 crore has been approved for this.
  • The Odisha Medical and Health Services Regulations have been amended by the state cabinet. The state cabinet has taken a decision to eliminate the shortage of doctors and hence will appoint 5,000 new doctors and 126 dentists.
  • The 16th Finance Commission is visiting Odisha on February 5, when the demand of Rs. 12,56,0148 crore will be kept before the Commission for further approval.

As a whole, the state cabinet has also given nod to a total of ten proposals which include one proposal each from the Power Department and the Law Department. Further detailed reports awaited.
