Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: Demanding timely payment of salary, employees of the 108 Ambulance service went on a cease work strike from Friday midnight following to a halt in the service in Odisha.

The agitated strike called by the 108 Ambulance Service workers Association is joined by Ambulance drivers, emergency medical technicians and attendants.

The private organization in charge of operating the service is not paying the staffs regularly. Earlier in March the association had also shown a similar agitation-demanding fulfillment of their 12-point charter of demands, said sources.

To be noted, nearly 420 108 Ambulances have been operating in the state with over 3000 employees appointed in regard of it.
