Rourkela, March 7: Implementing innovative repair technology, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) staff has recorded a lining life of 1720 heats in the 350 Tonne Torpedo ladle — the highest life in the country in same capacity of torpedo- and a savings of nearly Rs 72 lakh.
The Torpedo no-8 used in the new Blast Furnace-5 of RSP has handled 4,05,973 Tonnes of Hot Metal in the first campaign itself that lasted for 30 months.
This has resulted in a saving of Rs. 71.35 lakhs.
The achievement was possible due to the coordinated efforts of the Refractory Engineering (Services) Department along with the Blast Furnace Department as well as support by various service departments, RSP sources said.
