177 tonnes pulses seized during raids in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 26: Taking stern action against black marketers and pulses hoarders in Odisha, authorities have seized 177 tonnes illegally stocked pulses during raids so far.

The raids were conducted simultaneously at several places in Balasore, Bhubaneswar, Puri and Rayagada.

The State Food Supplies department has seized 51 tonnes illegally hoarded pulses from a retired teacher’s house in the Dumduma, on outskirts of state capital, 21 tonnes of pulses from trader in Chandanpur area in Puri district and about 17.6 tonnes from Radhakrushna Store in Motoganj area in Balasore on Monday.

Earlier, Centre had seized around 75,000 metric tonnes of pulses from hoarders during raids across 13 states.
