18 children pushed as forced labourers, rescued from Delhi

Keonjhar, Apr 4: In a rescue mission by the Odisha police, 18 minors (15 girls & 3 boys) were rescued after eight months from Delhi. The dalals (agents) who had taken us, promising of giving work at cloth showrooms in Bhubaneswar, without our notice had taken us to New Delhi and had forced us to work as house maids and tortured us, says a rescued girl.

Notably, the rescued children where from Nipo village in Keonjhar. Getting no clue about the whereabouts of their children, the parents approached the district Collector informing him about he incident. Following to the complaint, a seven member team was formed by the Keonjhar district child protection unit, police department, labour department and women and child development department, who searched the minor’s whereabouts and rescued them.
