Hyderabad, Nov 16: On the third day of the Ranji Trophy at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here yesterday, Odisha took a massive lead in the first innings against Assam. This became possible under the brilliant captaincy of Gobinda Poddar who made a double century and also because of the century strike made by Biplab Samantray. At draw of stumps, Deepak Behera and Suryakanta Pradhan were batting with 28 and 2 runs respectively.

As it had an overnight score of 150 for 2, Odisha started playing yesterday on an extremely careful note. Thus, Odisha were 459 for 7 whereas it was 301 was Assam. Today being the last day of the match, it seems that it would be a tie between the two.
