Cuttack, Oct 21: In connection to a murder which happened in 2002, the bail plea of BJD MLA from Dhamnagar, Muktikant Mandal was rejected by the Orissa High Court. It’s stated that the MLA had been ordered by the HC to surrender before the lower court. Moreover, the court has ordered the lower court to hear the case based on the cases of other accused in the murder case. Also the Bhadrak Session Court has asked the MLA to appear before it today. When the HC had asked the Bhadrak Session Court to hold Muktikant as accused and conclude its hearing within 6 months of time, the accused MLA had requested of an anticipatory bail.
Notably, on November 3, 2002 Niranjan Jena belonging to the Sugo village under Basudevpur police limits was abducted and murdered. Her uncle, Duhsashan Jena had lodged a case against 6 persons including MLA Muktikant Mandal. However, police removed Muktikant Mandal’s name from the charge sheet following with Duhsashan moved to the High Court.
