Bhubaneswar: The Kalabaisakhi rains are likely to continue for three days in Odisha starting from yesterday till May 19. Several places in the state are likely to experience lightning and thunderstorms.
The Kalabaisakhi rains will not but offer little respite from the intense heatwave. As many as five districts have been issued an orange warning for today. These include Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada. The gusty surface wind speed of 50 to 60 kmph can be experienced.
Similarly the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Balasore, Bhadrak and Sundargarh have been issued a yellow warning by the IMD. For heat and humidity seven districts have been issued a yellow warning.
