Jajpur, May 19: In connection to the 2006 Kalinga Nagar police firing case that took lives of 13 persons, protests are increasing against the non-indictment of officials in the P.K. Mohanty Commission of Inquiry of the case. Today the locals affected in the firing conducted a protest meet here. The meet commenced by paying homage and tribute to the matyrs. Then, the outraged people lashed out at the report that stated that no official has been indicted for the incident. Earlier, the Cabinet in its first meet approved the proposals laid out to make the report of the Justice P.K. Mohanty Commission of Inquiry into Kalinga Nagar police firing. On the other hand, the state government has stated that most of the demands stated by the Commission report such as formulation of a beneficial and comprehensive scheme for land losers, provision of suitable employment to one member each of victims and payment of additional ex-gratia to persons injured have already been rendered.
