Bhubaneswar, April 21: Odisha government has launched a website of State Climate Change Cell as part of its action plan on climate change.
Forest and Environment and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha Wednesday inaugurated the website www.climatechangecellodisha.org.
Speaking on the occasion, Arukha said, “Climate change is right now a global phenomenon in the world. It’s devastating consequences can be felt in many regions of the world”.
He claimed Odisha was the first State in the country to prepare an action plan on climate change and has set an example for other states.
“With the cooperation of 11 line departments, several key activities have been taken into account from the identified activities in the State Action Plan on Climate Change and Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Water Resources and Forest and Environment dept. have taken remarkable steps to mitigate the impact of climate change”, the Minister stated.
He added that based on the experience gained from previously prepared reports and achievements till date, the government has prepared State Action Plan on Climate Change for the period 2015-2020 for a long term Climate Change Prevention System and this Action Plan has been uploaded in the website www.climatechangecellodisha.org.
