Rayagada: April 26: The District and Session Court of Rayagada on Tuesday awarded a life term to Netrananda Dandasena, prime accused of Itishree Pradhan murder case. The Court pronounced this verdict on the basis of charge Sheet filed by the Crime Branch of Odisha Police.
Itishree Pradhan, resident of Puri District of Odisha, was working at the Tikiri upper primary school on a contractual basis for a monthly salary of Rs 4000. Assuring her comfortable stay at Tikiri,
SI Dandasena had sought sexual favours which she had opposed strongly. Further, Itishree lodged an FIR against Dandasena at Tikiri Police Station and SI pressurised her to withdraw that.
Finally, she was set ablaze after pouring kerosene on her inside the school campus, where she had been staying in a room and succumbed to her injuries on Nov 1, 2013. State Government started an crime branch enquiry on November 2, 2013.
