Inter-state council meeting attended by CM; Rise in MSP in paddy demanded

Bhubaneswar, July 16: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Saturday raised the Mahanadi water issue at the Inter-State Council meeting in New Delhi.

While attending the meeting, Patnaik informed that if Chhattisgarh would build the barrage on upper catchment area of Mahanadi River, then the farmer in the state would be affected.

By demanding he said that Minimum Support Price (MSP) for per quintal of paddy should be raised to Rs 2500 and also informed that the State is against Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme for pensioner.

Polavaram issue was also raised by the Chief Minister in the meeting, sources informed.
