Bhubaneswar, Sept 28: On Tuesday, five persons were arrested by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Odisha Crime Branch (CB) for their alleged connection with a loan fraud worth crores of rupees in Allahabad Bank.
Earlier, 11 others have been arrested in this connection. However, among the five arrested on Tuesday, four are retired government employees.
Notably, in the names of 85 persons using forged documents and citing themselves as employees of the Drainage Division, the accused had managed to get loans to the tune of Rs 2.26 crore in the year 2012, from the Nayasarak branch of Allahabad Bank.
However, only six of the loanees were employees in the Drainage Division and documents produced against the remaining were forged, the investigation of the EOW later on revealed.
