Bhubaneswar, Mar 8: In connection to the farmer suicides reported from diffrent parts of Odisha, the BJP has laid a demand for a judicial probe. State BJP vice-president Sameer Mohanty today at a press conference accused the ruling BJD government for showing such an ‘insensitive ’approach towards the farmers ’plight. He said that the suicide of farmers is purely because the failure of the government in providing proper irrigation and electricity to different parts of the state. Regarding the issue of false report submitted by the Bargarh collector in respect to the death of farmer Hadu Bagarti, Mohanty said that the collector had prepared a report without visiting the agriculture field and village of the deceased. The saffron party earlier demanded that the state government should provide compensation to the family of the deceased farmers like that is being provided in others parts of the country including Maharastra, Telengana and Andhra Pradesh. On the other hand, BJD leader Amar Satpathy claimed that Odisha government is serious on the issue of farmer suicides.
