Six Naxalites including the LOS commander were killed in an encounter with security forces on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border on Monday morning.
The bodies of the slain Naxals have been recovered. These include 4 women and 2 men. Weapons and other items were recovered from near the dead bodies. This has been confirmed by Sunil Dutt, SP of Bhadradri Kothagudem district in Telangana.
According to the information, the Gray Hound Force personnel had gone out on a search in Bhadradri Kottagudem district of Telangana adjoining the state. During this, the Naxalites who ambushed the Chennapur forest of Charla area opened fire. The soldiers also retaliated.
The Maoists are believed to be from the Cherla Area Committee and one of their senior leaders may be among the dead, police said, adding that the deceased are yet to be identified.
