Bhubaneswar, Jan 13: Hundreds of agitating Gana Shikshakas were arrested by the police near Sishu Bhawan Square when they were trying to march towards the Naveen Niwas.

Earlier on the day, aggrieved Gana Shikshakas threatened to enter the residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to press their demands.

The teachers have been demanding regularisation of job after completion of six years in service and hike in salary.

The teachers under the aegis of the Odisha Gana Shikshak Mahasangha have been agitating for last three days in front of the Assembly to draw the attention of the Government.

Alleging that they were in the dark about the decision taken at the Inter-Ministerial Committee meeting on their demands on Monday, the teachers wanted to draw the attention of the Chief Minister towards their long standing demands.
