Bhubaneswar, Jan 23 : Aluminium major Nalco today announced instituting scholarships for Below Poverty Line student desirous of learning Odishi.
Nalco CMD TK Chand addressing a cultural function organized by leading Dance & Art Institute Rudrakshya Foundation at Rabindra Mandap here on Friday said, “NALCO as a responsible corporate citizen is committed towards preserving & promoting the rich culture of Odisha. As the only CPSE having its headquarters at Bhubaneswar, we are continuously and consistently trying to associate ourselves with its rich legacy.”
He said NALCO would promote Odissi by instituting scholarships for BPL students who are learning this art form. Moreover, the aluminium major will institute awards on Odissi dance, which help in popularizing, patronizing and propagating Odissi”, Chand added.
Notably, Nalco recently honoured Odissi exponent Padmashree Ileana Citaristi and noted Odissi dancer Saswat Joshi with Kharvela Samman on the Foundation Day of the company.
The blend of Yoga & Odissi dance was the main attraction of the cultural event.
President Nalco Mahila Samiti Priti Roy, noted Odissi guru, Shri Bichitrananda Swain and Assistant Director, Union Tourism Department BB Mukherjee were present at the cultural function organized by Rudrakshya Foundation.
