Devotees take holy dip at Sangam on Mauni Amavasya

Allahabad, Feb 8: Lakhs of devotees continue to take holy dips on the occasion of Mauni Amawasya at Sangam and other ghats in Allahabad.

Bathing began very early this morning as thousands of devotees had reached Sangam area on Sunday.  The Magh Mela officer told that more than 40 lakh people had taken the holy dip in Sangam until 10 am.There are no reports of any untoward incident from the Magh Mela area.

Today’s Mauni Amawasya is also coinciding with Somwati Amawasya which makes today’s bathing more significant for pilgrims. According to the reports, bathing is taking place in other places as well.

In Varanasi, large number of devotees are reaching Rajendra Prasad Ghat, Dashaswamedh Ghat for holy bath and traditional worships.Thousands of people reached Chitrakoot Dham for Somwati Amawasya traditional worship and bathing at Mandakani River. In Ayodhya pilgrims are taking dip in Saryu river and offering prayers.
