Bhubaneswar, Feb 24: The Orissa High Court today allowed the Commissionerate Police to handcuff D-Brothers Sushil Dhalasamant and Sushant Dhalasamant even as Commissioner YB Khurania sought report on the alleged nexus between the criminal brothers and an aide of former top cop Sanjeev Marik.

The court allowed the Police to handcuffed the brothers whenever they are taken to any place for investigation purposes.

The Commissionerate Police had moved the High Court on Monday seeking permission in this regard.

The Twin City Police Commissioner sought a report from the Investigating Officer(IO) regarding Rabindra Sethy’s – a former stenographer of Retired DGP Sanjeev Marik — meeting with Dhalasamant brothers.

He asked the IO to ascertain as to whose permission was taken for this meeting.

Notably Sethy was transferred on Tuesday from the Police Headquarters to south-west Deputy Inspector General (DIG)’s office.

Meanwhile, the Police today seized a Honda City car believed to have been used by the criminal duo in the murder of their two associates – Dipu and Omm.

Notably, the victims were allegedly murdered in a farm house in Athagarh by the cronies of the D-brothers and later their bodies were initially taken to Keonjhar and finally taken to Jharkhand and burnt in a secluded place to destroy the evidence.

The Sub- Divisional Judicial Magistrate recorded the statement of two witnesses to re-investigate the pulse trader Farooq murder case to establish the possible link of the criminal brothers.

The SDJM had on Monday granted permission to the Cuttack police to re-investigate the Malgodown trader Farooq murder case.

Last week, Farooq’s wife Ishrat Jahan had met Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora claiming involvement of the arrested Dhalsamanta brothers in her husband Farooq’s murder case.
