Bhubaneswar, April 17: The Simlipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district will be out of bounds for tourists from Sunday till April 30 for conducting tiger census.

Deputy Director of Simlipal Tiger Reserve Ajit Satpathy said today that the park will remain closed  to ascertain the exact number of tigers in the sanctuary.

Notably, the State Government decided to conduct a fresh census from April 17 to establish the exact number of tigers in the park as the census data of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) did not match with that of the State’s Forest Department.

As many as Five hundred CCTV cameras will be installed by the department in the park to get the correct data by using camera trapping method, said sources.
