Eight historical sites of Odisha proposed for conservation

Bhubaneswar: April 27:Odisha proposed to include its 8 more historical sites in the list of Archaeological Survey of India protected monuments. The sites proposed by State are Group of Temples at Ranipur Jharial of Bolangir District, Biranchi Narayana Temple of Buguda, Bimaleswari Temple of Huma, Nilamadhava Temple of Kantilo, Ganjam Fort of Ganjam, Nrusinghanatha Temple of Paikamal, Suka Sari Deula and Bhabani Shankara Temple of Bhubaneswar. This information was given by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Civil Aviation in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.

 

Union Minister said, there are 3686 monuments/sites declared as of National importance are under the protection of Archaeological Survey of India. Though no such demand has been received in the recent past from the Conservationists to include more ancient monuments in the list of Archaeological Survey of India protected monuments, a few proposals have been received from State Governments.
