MUMBAI, OCT 20: Snapping three days’ gaining spree, the domestic markets ended the day in red as the S&P BSE Sensex lost 58 points to close at 27,306.83 while broader CNX Nifty ended down 13.40 points at 8,261.65
In a trade that remained choppy throughout the day mostly due to profit-booking in metal, oil and gas and pharma stocks, the benchmark index opened higher, but slipped thereafter as it ended the day at 27,306.83, down 58.09 points.
Market breadth remained negative with 22 of the 30 Sensex stocks ending the day in red.
Sector-wise, the BSE metal index suffered the most by losing 1.80 per cent, followed by oil & gas and realty.
The total turnover rose to Rs 3,376.86 crore, from Rs 2,574.18 crore yesterday.
