Rice Quota hike for Odisha from June

Bhubaneswar: May 12: Minister for Oil and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan said on Wednesday, Centre is planning to increase the rice quota for Odisha.

From June, centre will supply rice and wheat in the ratio of 85 and 15 under the National Food Security Act.

Pradhan has met with Union Food and Public distribution minister Ram Vilas Paswan and discussed regarding the increase in rice quota. While speaking to Media, Paswan told, the centre has never refused Odisha’s request to increase the rice and wheat quota from 79:21 to 85:15.

Pradhan said, after implementation of the NFSA, centre now supplies rice and wheat at Rs.3 and Rs.2 against Rs.5.65 and 4.15 which was before the implementation of NFSA.
