Milk Producers’ distributed free milk protesting government’s ‘anti-milk producers’ policy

Bhubaneswar: May 14:After Puri and Bargarh, today Milk Producers distributed free milk and poured large quantities of it on the streets alleging against state government’s ‘anti-milk producers’ policy.

They have been demanding a milk price of Rs 30/ litre, introduction of milk in mid-day meals and anganwadi facilities, free milk for pregnant woman, and a special identity card for the milk-producing community.

The protest was organised under the banner ‘ Odisha Dugdha Utpadaka Sangra Samiti’ today, which staged a demonstration at Bhubaneswar’s Lower PMG square.

Milk Producers said that they have not been getting the support price for milk and OMFED is not procuring in a proper manner, which has been creating problem for them. One of the Milk Producer said, ‘ Government is not enhancing the price of milk. So, how can we manage our livelihood as well as manage our cows.’
