Bhubaneswar: May 23: Governor of Reserve Bank of India Dr. Raghuram Rajan visited State Institute for Department of Art and Crafts of state handlooms of Textile and Handicrafts Department on Saturday.
He took a round of SIDAC and inspected various handicraft art demonstrated there. On this occasion he visited various training room at SIDAC and interacted with students.
Dr. Rajan discussed with Commissioner of department Chitra Arumugam, Joint Secretary of the department Raja Parija and various senior officials on the topic of the development of Odisha’s Handicraft on this occasion.
Dr. Rajan also visited various stalls exhibited by Boyanika, Utkalika and Sambalpuri Handloom and also highly appreciated about various steps taken by state government for development of handicraft in state.
Currently on behalf of State Government, SIDAC provides training facilities to 180 trainee in the field of Applique works, Traditional Painting work, Terracota works, Stone Carving and Wood Carving on annually basis with free staying and food facilities, utility kits, and necessary raw materials with Rs 2000 for their basic allowance.
He spend more than one hour at SIDAC.
