Bhubaneswar: May 24: Odisha government has taken a decision to separate Plus II colleges from degree colleges. Higher Education Minister Pradeep Panigrahi declared this after Chief Minister’s approval.

Panigrahi said, ‘ Plus II colleges got separated from degree colleges and will be managed by School and Mass Education department further.’ A separate directorate of higher secondary education will manage the Plus II colleges. With this decision, Government of Odisha can avail 100 crore central assistance every year for the junior colleges under Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA), which will help to develop infrastructural facilities for the Junior Colleges.

Earlier, the state used to lose funds to the tune of Rs 130 crore every year because of the old plan and the Union Human Resources Development ministry had advised the state government for segregation of Plus II from Higher Education department.

Further, Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha will formulate syllabus on the lines of Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE).
