Bhubaneswar: Coming down on the State government for its lackadaisical attitude towards farmers, Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan today dubbed the impeding drought in Odisha as manmade.

He said the government is yet to assess the drought like situation which has affected scores of farmers across the State. The PCC president informed a nine-member team led by former union minister and senior Congress leader Kahnucharan Lenka would visit different districts of the State and prepare a report over the drought situation.

“The report would be placed before the State government”, he added.
Harichandan also demanded the government to stop collecting agriculture and cooperative loans this year, waive examination and tuition fees of students in the drought affected areas and provide seeds, pulses and fertilizers to the farmers.

He said that the party would decide its future course of action, if the state government fails to meet these demands.
