New Delhi: June 07: The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojona (PMUY), the scheme for providing free LPG connections to women from BPL families, is going to be launched in Odisha on 20th June. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan scheduled to flag off the scheme in Sambalpur in presence of Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram. The identification of beneficiaries will be done taking state government into confidence. According to sources, the government is planning to increase the number of LPG customers from 39 lakh to 80 lakh by December 2018 in Odisha under the PMUY scheme.
Rs 8000 crore has been fixed for providing five crore LPG connection to BPL households and it will provides RS 1600 as financial assistance for each LPG connection to the BPL holder. Notably, The PMUY scheme has been launched in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan by central government.
