Devotees will not be allowed to touch deities at Snana Mandap; SJTA

Puri: June 14: It has been decided by Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) that, the devotees would not be allowed to touch the deities during Snana Purnima scheduled on June 20. Yesterday night, a meeting with the Daitapati Nijog was held under the leadership of Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Chief Administrator of SJTA and after the meeting Sri Mohapatra informed to Media persons, ‘To make it more convenient to all the devotees to have a proper darshan of the deities, we have taken a decision not to allow the devotees to touch the Lords. Administration has made some special arrangements so that all the devotees can have darshan near the barricades around the Snana Mandap.’

The Nijog presented three demands before the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), but their demands were turned down. Nijog members also expressed their satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting. Collector Arvind Agrawal and SP Sarthak Sarangi also participated in the meeting with Chief Administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra.
