148 Special Expresses to Puri to be on from July 5 for Ratha Yatra

Bhubaneswar, July 2: In order to lessen the amount of havoc expected to be created on July 6 with the heavy rush of passengers coming in to witness the Car Festival of Lord Jagannath at Puri, the East Coast Railways (ECoR) have decided to run 148 special trains.

Alongside, for easiness of activities at the station, 29 booking centers with 25 additional booking centers will also be kept open at various places here. Between July 5 and July 16, special expresses will be running to Puri from Khurda, Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Paradip, Berhampur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sambalpurin Odisha, Palasa and Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, and Jagdalpur in Chhatisgarh. Six trains will also be going to Puri for Netra Utsav ritual of the holy trinity on July 5 and 26 expresses will run for Gundicha Jatra on July 6. 40 trains will be running between July 7 and July 13 for Sandhya Darshan of the deities. 22 trains for Bahuda Yatra on July 15 and 24 for Sunabesha ritual of the deities that falls on the day after the Bahuda Jatra are arranged.

Post this, the ECoR are also planning to run six trains on the day after after Suna Besha on July 16. Besides this, 16 trains will be extended as special ones from their originating stations to Puri. All special trains will be named as Yatra Express Special.
