Motilal sentenced jail at vigilance court

Cuttack, July 19:  Motilal Gouda, the prime accused in the fake gazette notification scam was sent to jail, after he was produced by the vigilance in the special court here today at the end of his three-day remand.

It was claimed by the vigilance court that important information about the illegal money transactions of the accused was found during the interrogation. It was said that Rs 38 lakh was credited to the account of Mount India Diagnostic Centre being registered in the name of Gouda’s wife Rasmi Manjari. The transaction was done via cash and cancelled bank cheques and that it transacted money with others as well. Sources revealed that there has been an immediate increase of both movable and immovable properties of the accused rapidly.

Earlier, The Crime Branch had arrested the accused from Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh and had taken him on a six-day remand, before the vigilance took him to court.  In the fake notification that was issued in October 2015, the industries in the State were asked by Gouda to get the health check-ups of their staff done at one of the five listed pathology laboratories. He even managed to get a contract with Navaratna PSU Nalco for Rs 63 lakh, based on this notification. Another contract worth Rs 1.02 crore was also in the process of getting signed by Gouda with Nalco when the matter came forward and a complaint was registered with the investigating agency.

 

The State government, on 17th November 2015 had removed 408 medical officers from government service for remaining ‘absent from duty for a long period unauthorisedly and willfully’ which had Gouda’s name in it.
